There just is not enough understanding of the effect, long-term, plus the additional influence of algorithmic patterns that are designed for addiction. AI is being forced upon us by people who are only interested in getting richer, without accountability or concerns of long-term effects.
A worthy endeavor! I have an eight and a four year old, and I'm worried about the long term effects of engaging with AI before they can ungrateful what it is and what it does. They have an idea of it, but the implications of their development as native users in this new world are ones that I'm concerned I'll be at a disadvantage to guide them in.
I've tinkered with it for the past few years. It's a great way to get feedback, inspiration, and insights when I have have a huge amount of information to dig through, but I draw the line at expression. Looking forward to seeing what you find in your position!
Hi Geoffrey, Yes, please test for suicide safety. Also test for whether AI pushes Stupidity and Haughtiness, or Blindness to one's own future and Disempathy for others. And Test for how well AI upholds the human rights and dignity of others. Act like an anthropologist, and look for the parts that AI is leaving out of the conversation.
Over the years, I have seen several reports of gun violence preceded by YouTube and Social Media algorithms pushing hatred into a youth's head like a drug pusher pumping drugs into their veins. Don't just test for whether the AI pushes hatred, but whether it does so in conjunction with pushing Blindness, or leaving important parts out of the conversation. The bright youth who gets high on YouTube hatred and then goes off and shoots up a school just did not only a hateful thing but a blind thing. The youth was blind to his own life and his own future, which he just threw away, given that he will either die in the event or spend the rest of his life in a jail cell. He threw away his own future, and AI should have been telling him how bright his future could be and that he was throwing it away when it was telling him how to hate ppl or buy guns or ammo. The youth was blind to the pain and suffering of the people (often students) he killed and their families. And AI should have been telling him about his own blindness to the students' humanity while it was discussing his hatred of them. Test for the human rights and human values that AI leaves out of the conversation.

I’m not that concerned for myself (I’m old and retired), but I really am concerned how AI can/might be beneficial or disastrous for my grandchildren. Thank you for your taking on this area.
